Life and Excitement

Hello!

My name is Kelly Lewis, I am a journalism senior about to graduate from the University of Arizona in May 2008.

The blog (my digital portfolio) has been created in an effort to network with other reporters and individuals within the journalism industry, trying to foster a better understanding of the media business and opportunities that may arise within the profession.

If you're like me, you're a total dork that obsesses over all things journalism!

Ever since I can remember, I have poured over the morning newspapers and devoured magazines, dreaming of one day being a writer like those I admired so much.

Luckily, I only had to wait until college to get my feet wet.

At the University of Arizona, I enrolled in a slew of journalism courses and became a news and arts reporter at The Arizona Daily Wildcat, a campus newspaper with a 17,000 circulation, daily.

Eventually, I moved up the chain, becoming the News Editor of the Wildcat and picking up features internships at the Tucson Citizen and the Arizona Daily Star (where I am currently an apprentice in the entertainment section and loving it!).

I also started working for a variety of online sites, including chronicmagazine.com, a hip-hop e-zine that attracts over 11,000 visitors a day, where I got the chance to interview musicians such as Sean Kingston, Twista and Danity Kane.

I have an equal amount of love for both features and news reporting, although lately I have been feeling more pulled towards feature writing, specifically in the genres of entertainment, nightlife, music and travel.

Now that I'm stepping out into my career, I feel blessed to have come this far and am excited for what is to come.

If you'd like to chat or know more, please feel free to contact me at email.kelly.lewis@gmail.com at anytime.
